Timber from wilderness also in summer

Metsäteho Ltd and its cooperation partners implemented a harvest research for soft terrains in a wilderness in Pälkäne last autumn. The research examined the effects of the equipment of forest machines on the all-terrain capabilities of forest machines. Especially the air pressures of tires and the effects of the use of tracks were examined.

The lowering of the tire air pressure improved remarkably the all-terrain capabilities of harvesters. When the tire air pressures of the forest tractor were lowered in the research, the number of driving occasions could be increased. The lowering of the tire pressure of the forest tractor did not however have a remarkable effect on the average depth of the track.
